Lifelong gamer.
Aspiring game creator.
I’ve spent my entire life falling in love with game narratives, and I carry an ever-growing appreciation for the emotions evoked by a well-written story that effectively hones in on the details.
Now, I’m hoping to step further into the gaming sphere and help you build an enticing and memorable virtual world.
Whether you need assistance with community management, game dialogue, lore, or backend support, I would love to help you put together a final product that thrives.
I’m also no stranger to wearing many hats! When it comes to offering design feedback, testing a product for quality assurance, providing customer service, or helping the team out in some other way, it’s all in my wheelhouse.
"Why should I hire someone solely dedicated to writing?"
Video games are layered experiences. Information, budding relationships, and item identifiers are everywhere you turn via dialogue, notes, quest logs, background signage, faux product placement…
And that’s only considering what’s inside the game.
There’s also a ton of work to be done on the marketing side: the creation of fundraising pages, store pages, website copy, game information, FAQs, blog posts, social media posts, update logs…
PHEW.
When you task a developer or concept artist with serving as the team’s writer as well, you’re adding to the already-full platter of a person who might not even identify as a writer.
And when you divide writing responsibilities between everyone, you run the risk of in-game inconsistencies, like changes in a character’s tone, grammatical shifts, or contradictory information. Not only is this confusing, but it can interrupt your audience’s growing connection to the game environment or keep them from becoming as invested in a story as they otherwise might. Any player will tell you: details matter.
Everyone on a team has valuable ideas to bring to the table; there’s no doubt about it. (And a good writer knows how to bring those ideas to life!) But having a dedicated writer who is an inside-and-out expert on your game is crucial to ensuring nothing gets overlooked, be it big or small. Avoiding shortcuts and bringing someone aboard who is solely dedicated to the creation of complex, lively characters and worlds will bring on results that don’t go unnoticed.
"Okay, great - but why should I hire you?"
I‘m an enthusiastic team player ready to bring an eye for detail, fresh ideas, and engaging copy to your project.
I can easily pivot from writing in-game content to drafting an informative FAQ at a moment’s notice.
Asking questions and analyzing the details from every perspective is in my nature.
Enthusiasm towards designing an experience we could all spend hours inside is a given.
